Next Named Storm Could Off East Coast

We are continuing to keep tabs on a non-tropical area of low pressure developing off the east coast of the United States.

As of now, the spot has been given a medium (40%) chance of development over the next seven days.

If it takes on enough tropical characteristics, it would be given the name Josephine.

After days of slow and erratic movement, the system would likely move northeast into the open waters of the Atlantic.

This would not be directly impacting the Tampa Bay area. Regardless of formation, this will produce gusty winds, high surf, coastal flooding and potentially beach erosion along the east coast of the United States
