After a fast start to the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season with the first named storm Arlene developing on June 2nd, just as quickly as Arlene formed, it has dissipated just north of Cuba.
As expected, dry air and wind shear created a hostile environment for the storm and it couldn’t maintain much of its identity. The National Hurricane Center issued its last advisory on Arlene Saturday evening.
Now that Arlene is gone, we look forward to the next one. Thankfully, no tropical development is expected over the next 7 days.
In June, formation is typically favored in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean. We’ll keep an eye on this area in the coming weeks. Keep checking back for updates. The next name on the list is Bret.
