Tropical Storm Humberto has 40 mph winds and is passing just east of Great Abaco Island. The heaviest squalls are focused on the east side of the storm away from the islands. The track keeps Humberto well east of Florida’s coast. Tampa will see a breezy weekend with fast moving showers. While the east coast can expect rough surf and dangerous rip currents.
Humberto will gradually strengthen as it moves northwest through Sunday. Then it will turn east heading out into the Atlantic as it becomes a hurricane. It will pull down dry air over Florida next week, giving us a lot of sunshine and minimal rain chances for the work week.
We are in the peak of hurricane season, so it is no surprise we have multiple tropical waves. Most have minimal chances of development. The area in orange has the best chance of developing, about 60% from the National Hurricane Center. We will continue to monitor them all.
