Two Weeks To Go In The 2019 Hurricane Season

Almost there! The 2019 hurricane season will officially come to a close on November 30. As is usually the case, the month of November has been extremely quiet; and there shouldn’t be much happening over the next couple of weeks.

It’s been a very active season with 17 named storms in the books – 6 of which became hurricanes. We’ll have a full recap, discussing all of the storms in the Atlantic basin this year, posted on the last day of the season.

November Storms Since 1980

We are counting down the days until the end of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season, there are just 18 days left. So far, this November has been quiet with no named storms.

Since 1980, there have been 26 named storms. Out of those, only one hit the United States. In 1985, Hurricane Kate made landfall in the Florida Panhandle. Last year, we finished out the season with out any named November storms.

A series of cold fronts continue to move into the Gulf of Mexico, generating high wind shear. At this moment, the National Hurricane Center does expect any tropical development.
