Disturbance Sitting 600 miles South of Newfoundland

We have been monitoring an area of low pressure sitting over 600 miles south-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland. It remains disorganized and non-tropical in nature. The disturbance may take on more sub-tropical or tropical characteristics over the next 2-3 days, but the chances still look minimal. Even if it does strengthen, it will move northeast in the open Atlantic, not affecting any land areas.

Development Remains Hindered in the Tropics

Yesterday we showed you a disturbance sitting midway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles, it didn’t stand much of a chance of development. And now development is less likely due to wind shear, dry air, and water temperatures.

A disorganized area of low pressure sits about 500 miles south of Newfoundland. It will meander in the central subtropical Atlantic over the next few days, posing no threat to land. It only has a 20% chance of development during the next 5 days.
