An upper level low pressure off Florida’s east coast has a low chance to form into a tropical depression this week.

This system will slowly drift over the state and end up in the northern Gulf around midweek. Environmental conditions support gradual development while the low spins along the Gulf Coast.

The National Hurricane Center is giving it a 20% chance over the next 7 days and a 0% chance over the next 2 days.

Regardless of tropical development, heavy rain is the main threat across Florida as deep tropical moisture will be over the state for several days.

Rounds of heavy rain, scattered thunderstorms and localized flooding is possible as waves of tropical downpours move across the state early this week.
