We are watching 3 areas in the tropics, but none pose a threat to Florida. A tropical wave in the western Caribbean has minimal chances of development, if it can stay over water. It will bring heavy rain to parts of central America over the next few days. Another tropical wave will move off the African coast later today and head northwest. There is a narrow window for some development before conditions become unfavorable midweek. The Cabo Verde Islands will see an increase in showers.
Melissa is now a very weak Tropical Storm with 45 mph winds. Dry air and increasing wind shear will continue to weaken the system as it heads out into the Atlantic.
