Tropical Depression #5 Forms in the Atlantic

Tropical Depression #5 has formed in the Atlantic with 35 mph. It has developed deep convection and a closed circulation. It is currently dealing with some wind shear that will decrease over the next couple of days. The decreasing shear and warm waters will allow for steady intensification.

The compact cyclone will likely strengthen into a tropical storm later tonight or Sunday. It will continue to move west-northwest along the southern edge of a ridge of high pressure for the next several days. By Tuesday it will be near the central Lesser Antilles with potentially 65 mph winds.
