Dry air remains widespread through the tropical Atlantic and Caribbean. Tropical waves develop off the coast of Africa and race westward, battling the dry air while trying to organize and develop. A few of the tropical waves manage to hold together, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to the Lesser Antilles. But as they cross into the Caribbean, they not only encounter dry air but strong wind shear as well, ripping them apart.

The European model continues to show a ridge of high pressure over the tropical Atlantic. The tropics will remain quiet for the next 5 days. The next few days may be quiet, but the peak of hurricane season is right around the corner on September 10th.
