Two named storms to watch this weekend
Posted by Paul Dellegatto under Daily updates
T.S. Lee will continue to bring heavy rain and tropical storm force winds to the upper Gulf coast Saturday and Sunday. Slow intensification is likely, but the main threat will be very heavy rainfall which will accumulate up to 20″ by the time the system moves away on Monday. Unfortunately, the rain will not fall in areas that really need it, such as Texas and Georgia. Hurricane Katia bears watching as she will continue to move west/northwest towards the east cost of the United States. Intensification is likely and she could become a major hurricane in a few days. This will be a close call for the east coast, but the most likely track at this point will be for a curve just off the mid Atlantic states later next week. Check back with us as the storm certainly needs to be watched closely.
